What’s in a food parcel?
Our foodbank provides either three or seven days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
Trussell has worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contains sufficient nutrition for at least three days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.
A typical food parcel includes:
- Cereal
- Pasta or rice
- Cooking sauces
- Beans
- Tinned meat/fish
- Tinned vegetables
- Tea/coffee
- Tinned fruit
- Biscuits
- Soup
- Long life milk
- Fruit juice/cordial
- Crisps
- Tinned pudding
- Toilet roll
Dietary requirements
Our foodbank can usually adapt a food parcel to meet dietary needs, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian. When the client arrives at the foodbank centre, a volunteer will chat to them about any special dietary requirements they may have.
Great Yarmouth foodbank also provides essential non-food items such as toiletries and hygiene products, pet food and baby essentials helping people in crisis to maintain dignity and feel human again.
